Gay Friendly Boutique Bed and Breakfast Rye
Jeakes House Gay Friendly 5 Star Bed and Breakfast, Mermaid Street, Rye

www.jeakeshouse.com

Jeakes House sits snuggled amongst other fine examples of Elizabethan dwellings on Rye’s most famous thoroughfare Mermaid Street that
often enjoys the richly deserved title of “the prettiest street in England”. There is an ethereal quality
here amongst the cobblestones
and ancient buildings that conjures up a world of Dickensian characters. This delicious atmosphere continues inside this flawless example of a
16th century house, flowing effortlessly throughout the richly decorated rooms that are punctuated with exquisite furnishings and antiques.
The bedrooms and suites here are simply to die for, all named after literary and artistic figures who have visited Rye and the former residents of Jeakes House. The friendly proprietors of this gorgeous hotel are Jenny and Richard who explained to me their passion for keeping these characters alive. Each of the stunning suites and bedrooms have been lovingly restored without detriment to their fine distinguished heritage, mixing traditional elegance with unashamed luxury. All of these stunning rooms are equipped with: direct dial telephone, television, hairdryer, generous hospitality tray and each afford atmospheric views from the ancient and picturesque Mermaid Street to the wild and untamed beauty
of Romney Marshes across the enchanting red rooftops of Rye. Breakfasting here at Jeakes is an absolute delight and is taken in the beautiful galleried dining room where tables graced with fine linen and period balloon backed chairs await you amidst this richly decorated room. The breakfast menu excites, tempts and promises you an array of traditional favourites from devilled kidneys to smoked wild salmon, all cooked with passion and served with style. Parking in Rye like many ancient towns is an extraordinarily difficult challenge. However, guests arriving by car at Jeakes House need not concern themselves with such trifles as private parking is provided, and in Rye that’s priceless. What a delightful stay.

Gay Friendly 5 Star Bed and Breakfast and Licensed Restaurant Rye
Manor Farm Oast, Gay Friendly Bed and Breakfast  Windmill Lane, Icklesham, Rye

www.manorfarmoast.co.uk

Driving along quiet country lanes between Hastings and Rye with the warm spring sun on our faces and the air heady with the scent of apple blossom from many orchards that abound in this most beautiful part of East Sussex is where we found Manor Farm Oast. What a hidden treasure it is for only the luckiest people to find. In its past life this little gem was a three roundel Oast House. It began its new career as a bed and breakfast in 1996 when Kate and Syd the friendly owners found and fell in love with it. Over the years they have lavished much care and attention into making the fabulous bed and breakfast it is today. There are four pretty en-suite bedrooms including the completely round Oast Room which is simply gorgeous. All of these bedrooms are immaculately presented and beautifully equipped with King Size Beds, generous hospitality trays, TV, Wi-Fi access (you can borrow a laptop to check emails if you have left yours at home), with pretty views across the gardens to the open countryside; all this together with lots of special thoughtful touches just say everything about the commitment Kate and Syd have made to providing the finest accommodation, hospitality and welcome for their guests. The food here is a delight and a big part of the Manor Oast experience; you see Kate is an accomplished cook and Syd told us that she can often be found in her farmhouse kitchen up to her elbows in flour baking cakes for afternoon teas or preparing astonishingly good evening meals for her guests. Just imagine what a perfect setting for a romantic country wedding and reception The Manor Farm Oast would make: fabulous location, beautiful accommodation and Kate’s astonishingly good food. Little wonder that between them they have won more awards for their hospitality and food than you can shake a stick at. Fabulous friendly stay.

Strand House Guest House
is a luxury bed and breakfast near Rye that dates back to the 13th Century making it even older than the famous Mermaid Inn at Rye. Strand House is owned and run by two remarkably talented people Mary Sullivan and Hugh Davie who, together with their friendly team of staff, make staying here so very special. Steeped in history, Strand House started life as a hospital inhabited by monks then
in the 15th century it became the village workhouse. Its architectural heritage is deliciously evident where low ceilings braced with ancient oak beams look down on rooms with inglenook fireplaces and winding stairs where the eye is constantly drawn to the pretty and tranquil surroundings through leaded windows. The whole house simply oozes an atmosphere of period character and a unique dignified charm. Strand Guest House Rye has 13 bedrooms, all of which seem to compete for your attention with their different character, size and style
. The bedrooms here range from a luxurious and romantic Tudor Room four-poster to a garden room. All are en-suite with either bath or shower, and are all beautifully presented and come equipped with flat-screen TV, complementary White Company London toiletries, generous hospitality tray including hand made biscuits, and free Wi-Fi, The superior rooms provide tables and chairs and fluffy dressing gowns and use of a DVD and video library. For guests there
are two sitting rooms, a bar, a stunning dining room and a beautiful garden. The food at Strand House, whether breakfast, afternoon tea or dinner, is seriously good and is central to the whole Strand House experience. Mary and her team use local fresh
ingredients, cooked with skill
and an astonishing passion
. The menu changes daily depending on what the fishing boats bring into Rye Harbour and what is best from the local organic farm. The whole country house atmosphere and its beautiful location makes Strand House perfect for an elegant country style wedding.
